How to Freeze and Unfreeze Your Debit Card

Edited

If your debit card has been misplaced, you suspect unauthorized use, or you simply want an extra layer of security, you can instantly freeze your card through Stubborn Bank Online Banking or the Stubborn Bank Mobile App. A freeze prevents new purchases, ATM withdrawals, and other transactions — and you can lift it just as easily when you're ready.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have the following:

  • An active Stubborn Bank Online Banking account or the Stubborn Bank Mobile App installed on your device

  • Access to your registered email address or phone number for verification

How to Freeze Your Debit Card

Via the Stubborn Bank Mobile App:

  1. Open the Stubborn Bank Mobile App and sign in to your account.

  2. From the home screen, tap Cards in the bottom navigation menu.

  3. Select the debit card you want to freeze.

  4. Tap Freeze Card, then confirm your choice when prompted.

  5. You will see a confirmation message and the card will display a "Frozen" status immediately.

Via Stubborn Bank Online Banking:

  1. Log in at stubborn.bank/online and navigate to My Accounts.

  2. Select the account linked to your debit card.

  3. Click Manage Card next to the relevant card.

  4. Select Freeze Card and follow the on-screen confirmation steps.

  5. A confirmation notification will be sent to your registered email address.

How to Unfreeze Your Debit Card

  1. Follow the same steps above to locate your frozen card in the Cards section (Mobile App) or Manage Card panel (Online Banking).

  2. Select Unfreeze Card.

  3. Confirm your choice. Your card will be reactivated instantly and ready to use.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Freezing your card does not cancel it. Recurring payments and scheduled transactions that were already authorized may still process while the card is frozen.

  • A freeze is not the same as reporting your card lost or stolen. If you believe your card has been used fraudulently, please report it immediately so a replacement can be issued.

  • Freezing your card will not affect your account balance, pending transactions, or any linked accounts.

  • If you cannot locate the freeze option, ensure your Stubborn Bank Mobile App is updated to the latest version.

💡 Tip: Not sure if your card is currently frozen? Navigate to the Cards section in the app or Online Banking — a frozen card will be clearly labeled with a lock icon and "Frozen" status.
